Frequently asked
Everything you'd want to know about a Canadian yoga retreat
What is the best time of year for a yoga retreat in Canada?add
Coast, forest, and mountain retreats run all four seasons but skew to May–October when the weather is warmest and outdoor practice is possible. Winter retreats (November–March) exist and are excellent — they lean into sauna, silence, and snow — but expect smaller cohorts and more indoor asana. Silent retreats and urban weekend programmes run year-round with no seasonal cadence.
How much does a yoga retreat in Canada cost?add
Weekend retreats (2–3 days) typically run CAD $350–$800 including meals + shared accommodation. Multi-day retreats (4–7 days) run $900–$2,500. High-end wellness weeks at destination properties (Hollyhock, Grail Springs, Whistler) run $2,500–$5,000+. Silent retreats at established centres are often the best value — often under $150/day fully catered.
Do I need to be experienced to attend a Canadian yoga retreat?add
No. Roughly half of the retreats in our directory are open to beginners — filter by the Beginner vibe to see them. Look for phrases like "all levels" in the description, and confirm the group cap is under 15 for your first retreat. Silent and advanced-asana retreats are the two categories that usually have prerequisites.
What should I pack for a Canadian yoga retreat?add
Layered clothing (Canadian evenings are cool even in summer), a warm sweater for pre-dawn sits, your own mat if you have one you love, unscented toiletries, a refillable water bottle, and a notebook. Most centres ask you to hand your phone in at arrival. Our detailed 10-day retreat packing guide covers the specifics.
How do I know a retreat is legitimate?add
Every retreat in our directory links to the operator's own website — bookings and payments go directly through them, not us. Check: (1) the operator has been running retreats for more than one season, (2) group size is capped (under 25 for a real retreat container), (3) the lead teacher is named, and (4) cancellation policy is spelled out on their page. Our editorial Verified badge marks centres we've personally confirmed.
Do you take a commission on bookings?add
No. Never. YogaRetreats.ca is a free directory — every listing links to the operator's own booking page and we don't touch the transaction. We're funded by optional paid placements from studios who want higher visibility. If you find a retreat here, you're paying the operator the same amount you would if you'd found them via Google directly.
